File Ferret version 1.10

*** Special instructions for Upgrading the Registered
*** Version of File Ferret.
If you are not (yet) a registered users of File Ferret, you do not
need to read furthur in this document.
Registered users of File Ferret are allowed to update their version
of the program by downloading the latest edition from commercial
online services, the Internet and other sources. This is true until
the next major version release of the program.
The registered version of program relies on a set of file viewers than
are not available within the downloadable shareware version. When File
Ferret was installed on your hard disk using the installation diskettes,
the file viewers were installed within the application's directory.
There are two ways to obtain updated file viewer components.
One way is to contact Fineware and we will be happy to send you a set of
diskettes which contain the latest version of File Ferret (including
the replacement viewers). There is a small $5 shipping/handling charge
for this however. Note: You MUST be in our database as a registered user
to obtain the latest copy of the program via this method.
The easiest way to obtain the file viewers is to download them from one
of the commercial services such as CompuServe or America Online. The file
that you need is called PEEPER.ZIP. The suggested forum to use on
CompuServe is the WINUTIL forum. Peeper is more than just the viewer files,
it is a full blown shareware app which you may find quite usefull in it's
own right. In fact, Windows Magazine rated it as Superior Shareware.
We use PEEPER as the vehicle for distributing viewer upgrades to
to File Ferret registered users. At this time, Fineware intends to withhold
the viewers from the downloadable version of File Ferret in order to keep
the file size of the downloadable file to a minimum and to encourage
non-registered users to upgrade.
Installation: After you obtain PEEPER.ZIP, UnZip it into the File Ferret
directory.
